Under Violet Skies

The journey starts in 2012 when drummer Marina Eckhart meets guitarist Alex Bartunek. They soon discover that they share the same musical vision and so Under Violet Skies is formed, with Marina additionally taking on vocals and also piano in the quieter moments of the band. Josef Haas on bass completes the trio, which is now equally based in Vienna, Graz & Imst in Austria.

All three musicians share their desire to stay independent, so it goes without question that they would produce and record all of their material by themselves. It’s very important for the band that everything released under their name, be it music or videos, is hundred percent them.

Work on the demo Lost Inside Me is completed in 2014. It showcases Under Violet Skies’ musical melange of alternative rock mixed with metal, funk, pop and classical influences, together with electronic elements.

2018 sees the release of the band’s official debut Colors of Chaos, followed by the EP Surrounded by Light in 2020, featuring exclusively piano songs. The Wonders I Have Seen, the second full length album, is released in 2021.

Maybe This Is Why, Under Violet Skies’ new single showing their acoustic side, is available on December 16, 2022.

Marina Eckhart

When Marina was 8 years old she started to play the drums. Years later she discovered the Drummers Collective in New York, where she graduated in 2011. Since her childhood she was singing in a choir and at the age of 15 she started to play piano and to write her own songs.

In January 2021 Marina releases her first solo album Lifts Me High, containing seven pieces of spiritual world music. The songs are written to spread love, spirituality and a deep bond with nature. The second album Falcon Heart is released on April 26, 2024.

Parallel to her musical work Marina has written the fantasy-adventure trilogy Das Band der Samienen, consisting of the books Rabenkälte, Schattenwahrheit & Königsneige, which were released 2020 and 2021. The heroes of the story use portals to travel to unknown realms, have magical powers and fight against terrifying creatures threatening to destroy their homeworld. Rabenkälte was also released as an audiobook.

Additionally Marina is a passionate painter, who designs all of her book & album covers herself. Many of her creations are available printed on apparel and accessories in the shop.
